Tin Hill Social: AIX Rose Sunday Brunch


Free flow AIX French Rose at only $14++? - there's no way I wasn't knock this game out of its ballpark. My last experience at Tin Hill Social Sunday brunch held in conjunction with Straits Wine Company was a home run. Cozy vibes and mad bokeh game within spacious grounds, with a genial carpet of natural light draped over all its corners; it was love at first sight. Then there was the food - leave it to Chef Michael Lewis to make a lasting impression with his cuisine overflowing with laid back Australian vibes with a strong emphasis on produce.


I have a lot of difficulty not diving into the Wagyu Brisket Burger (as previously lamented about here); but in view that I was here for brunch, I chose to opt for one of the most important pillars of brunching in Singapore - the Tin Hill Social Eggs Benedict ($19.50).  The succulent pulled pork that proved to be neither too salty nor sweet is layered over buttery brioche soaked with the intense flavors of meat juices. To top that all off, a refreshing orange hollandaise, made from scratch - non of that coagulated, skin forming bottled stuff that you'll usually find.  But of course, if you're more a traditionalist, you can opt for the Hay-smoked Salmon instead of the porcine route.

Closer to the burger species is the Apple Wood and Hay Smoked Pork Belly Sangar ($27.50), think la chinata dry rubbed Australian pork belly, chicharron, and rocket in between soft ciabatta bread, flanked by hand cut wedges. The cheeky yet ultra fine tongues of pork belly whipping up magic in their wake. If you're going for simple and genuine rather than fou fou brunch fare, this would be your best bet. Tuck in with all fingers to optimise marginal utility. 

They are all enjoyed with an endless rift of AIX rose poured table side till you gently tap out only to be greeted by the challenging stares of the impish bright eyed servers. At this juncture, walking in a straight line out of the establishment is going to be quite a challenge.


On a side note, the Hay Smoked Hiramasa Kingfish Carpaccio is the newest addition to their after 6pm dinner menu. Studded with accompanying bits of pomelo, capers and pea tendrils, this spectacular plate makes for a super light and tantalising starter to the fabulous meal that's going to follow after.


The dessert menu presents quite a few surprises - tried and true classics like the rhum au baba are given a twist to arrive at tasty reinventions like this Amaretto Baba ($15) - tonka macerated strawberries, sorbet and chantilly. A great finale depicting springtime in every bite, it's a full fledged berry feast with a medley of textures showcased and the highlight being that spongy yeasted sweet bread that had soaked up the goodness of the sweetened alcohol so gregariously. With our repeated experience at Tin Hill Social, it's become evident that you don't have to dig deep to uncover promises of its culinary pedigree.


Note that Tin Hill Social Sunday Brunch will be in its second instalment this coming Sunday, March 20th whereby diners will get the choice to purchase 1 glass of AIX rose at $25++ and enjoy FREE FLOW from 11am - 3pm. I kid you not, this deal is real and ever so enticing boosted by the surround sounds of DJ Shane O'Neill and menu sprinkled liberally with good vibes. Make your reservations to avoid disappointment.
