Chir Chir introduces a Honey Butter Chicken and other new dishes

I'll find any excuse to treat myself. Actually, my whole system of self-adulting is based on an intricate balance of tasks and rewards to keep myself happy and motivated. I clock in 6 miles, I get pistachio gelato. I pay a bill, I get a cocktail (and a significantly lighter wallet). I make it to the weekend, I go down to Chir Chir and get myself that very exciting looking pile of Honey Butter Chicken. This very deliberate systems that involved foot rubs from the mister, exotic beers and the occasional burger; works, and it gets the job done.

Since we've all made it to the weekend, I'm absolutely certain that we're all due for a treat ourselves. Here are some new dishes from the Chir Chir's new menu from me to you.

Start your evening off with the Mojito Double Smoothie ($12.90); add $3 for a shot of vodka if you're feeling frisky but in all honesty, the alcohol gets washed out in the entire vat of crushed ice that its existence is almost negligible. That being said, the company of a cold beverage is extremely crucial given the fate dealt by the deliriously hot dishes in the line up later. Heat-seekers, here's something to get excited over.

New to the menu, the Topokki and Cheese ($9.90) is not one for the faint-hearted; korean rice cakes in a creamy cheese sauce, boosted with bits of chicken ham and bacon bits. Definitely not one for the weight-watchers as the gooey concoction gets quite heavy on the palate after one too many bites. Instead, turn your attention to the Honey Butter Chicken ($28.90) which on my last visit, had evidently achieved cult status with it gracing almost every table in the house. Admittedly, this threads with heavy footsteps across 'processed-food' territory; but with such addictive scents wafting out from its golden brown presence, it's all a little too hard to resist. Honey butter seasoning gives an immediate kick to the boneless fried chicken and the addition of crispy fried Korean rice cakes bind the dish together to give a moreish flavor. It was impossible to stop at just one piece.

It is a perilous moment, the peeling of the prawn amidst fiery red hot clam based broth while adorned in a pristine white dress. The Spicy Seafood Soup ($26.90) also fresh on the menu provides variation away from the usual fried chicken assortment at Chir Chir. Chock full of squid, crayfish, prawns, mussels and glass noodles; diners will find this slightly feisty till they locked lips with the next item, the Spicy Topokki ($15.90).

The spicy gochujang (red pepper paste) sauce is piquant and peppery enough to lift the celestial looking stew guarded with cajun battered squid and deep fried hardboiled egg on the side, to devilish depths. One mouthful of this will have you spitting fire; my mind filled with regrets as I returned unconsciously to the platter for more braised cabbage, all of which had irrefutably soaked in the bulk of the vehement broth. You've been warned... so good but soo bad (on the tummy, that is.)

Fill the empty crevices in your belly with the more wholesome option of Rosemary Chicken ($29.90) - succulent to the T; the whole roasted chicken had definitely benefited from some sort of brine bath and heavy marination in rosemary and dried herbs, resulting in a stockpile of moist chicken stacked with Pythagorean precision.
