Otto's Deli Fresh: Premium steaks to be washed down with fine wines

Otto's Deli Fresh is an all-day restaurant inspired by the vision of Chef Otto Weibel, who has won multiple awards in International cooking competitions and has had vast experience working in various prestigious hotels.

This time around, Chef Otto has taken to introducing a whole new range of premium steaks at head-turning attractive prices. All done to perfection to please the discerning palates of meat-lovers.

Did it make the cut though? Read on to find out.

Start your meal with the Butcher's Platter ($22), which is a classic platter of your usual suspect cold cuts - chorizo salami, honey glazed ham, mortadella, parma ham, meatloaf. While I personally felt that the cold cuts were nothing to shout about, the assortment of freshly baked bread was absolutely delightful. Served fresh and hot, the varietal of breads, each of which displayed superb fluffy structure mimicked biting down into clouds, only better, because of the residual yeasty sweetness in its backwash.

Otto's Deli Fresh procures its steaks directly from Swiss Butchery, in its turn, offering diners with a wide range of top-grade meat options at affordable pricing. The Australian Grass-fed Beef Ribeye ($18) and Australian Grass-fed Angus Beef Sirloin ($25) ticks off all boxes on the check list for a well-cooked steak - a perfect medium, moist and tender center. But as someone who prefers a fattier cut, the Australian Grass-fed Wagyu Beef Sirloin (Grade 6) ($35) caught my attention. With the prime amount of fat to meat ratio, biting into the fat layer caused the steak to exude its flavourful juices in all directions. Apart from the quality meat, the fries served on the side was also unexpectedly addictive. The frying process had blistered the potato skins resulting in a desirable charred flavour.

Conclude your meal with the Waffle Supreme ($28), gloriously comprising of Chocolate Waffle, Burnt Banana Waffle, Green Tea Waffle and S'mores Waffle. Best to share with another. My vote goes to the Burnt Banana Waffle and I especially loved how the banana added a nice natural sweetness to counter balance the slight saltiness from the peanut butter ice cream. Sweet levels were kept a tight ship but that didn't compromise on the peanut butter representation of the scoop. Top notch! Where waffles are concerned, the kitchen churns out those crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside renditions, basically everything you can ask for a waffle.

Otto's Deli Fresh serves up quality steaks at affordable prices, not forgetting the delightful home baked bread that will definitely have diners craving for more! A worthy foodie destination for steak-fiends in the Holland Village precinct.
