Authentic Japanese Desserts at Misato, The Centrepoint

Love authentic Japanese desserts? Then you can't miss out on Misato. This new restaurant at The Centrepoint serves up a pretty near selection of after meal sweet treats that'll delight the most fussy of dessert lovers because the restaurant prides itself on making them from scratch with quality ingredients air-flown from Japan.

First up is the Sanshouku Warabi Mochi ($8.80), which is a bowl of chewy mochi cubes tossed in sesame, soybean or pure green tea powder. The mochi cubes are more chewy than sticky (so it's not like the usual muah chee you're so used to eating). It's what you'd get if you ordered the same dessert in Japan. Misato serves up the real deal so if you think the green tea mochi cubes are too bitter for your palate, ask for a side of kuromitsu (black honey) sauce to counterbalance the bitter taste. Diners who want more of that sauce however, should order the Kuzukiri ($8.80) and slurp up the slippery goodness of the soft arrowroot noodles dipped in kuromitsu sugary syrup.

The must-order dessert at Misato is the Matcha Bavarois ($7.80). Besides being totally Instagram-worthy for its fun and wobbly texture, the bitter-sweet green tea pudding is one of the best I've tasted and thus far and for good reason. The restaurant uses a special green tea powder from Nara Prefecture to make their matcha-related dishes. So be sure to complete your Misato matcha experience with the Hot Matcha ($6.50) tea served the traditional way (in a mini bowl) or the Matcha Ice-Blended ($8.80). Matcha addicts won't be disappointed.
