{Wordless Wednesdays}: Bottura

0
COM
Arancini al Ragu ($8)
I initially condoned this to the 'Shall keep mum' folder on my desktop, but what the heck.. it's better suited for my 'Wordless Wednesday' movement.. simply because that's exactly where a meal at Bottura left me. At a loss for words.

And not in a good way too.

We're more than halfway through the work week and steaming on!

What's better than a Giant sausage snail ($17.80) served with Bavarian potato salad and bacon bits as midweek motivation?

What a feast....

Wordless Wednesdays: Burgers @ The Beast

The Farm Boy Burger ($22) at The Beast. 8oz patty, lettuce, tomato, pickle, pimento cheese,
tomato relish, candied bacon and side of paprika dusted fries. Imagine that.

The Pimento cheese, a relish of sorts made from sharp cheddar cheese, mayonnise, pimentos and seasoning was a delight to eat on its own, and better still when slathered onto toasted sesame buns. The patty, however , cried out for a bit more love and attention. Not the best but definitely not the worse. Order their #OutofThisWorld Fried Chicken and Waffles instead and you're guaranteed many future craving-led meetings with your new drug dealer. The Beast.

{Wordless Wednesdays} @ Percolate: Seriously Coffee

Alvin and Vincent in their lovechild of a cafe, Percolate, located in the caffeine deprived neighbourhood of Bedok.

Here, the duo's passion for delivering excellent coffee is translated resoundingly with the aid of Nylon Coffee beans (a favourite of mine). While the tantalising display of cakes and sweets may be too bewitching to ignore, have a go at their Smoked Salmon with Wasabi Cream Cheese Croissant, this will surely please the rainy day cravings.

{Wordless Wednesdays} at the Royal Mail

Hearing news of the $10 Burger and Beer promotion that ran through the month of July at the Royal Mail at the Ascott Raffles Place, we decided to make a quick trip down.

That was a mistake.

This got a freezing cold reception from both S and I (pun intended)

Everything but the patty was frigid. I kid you not.

Sometimes we all try to bite off more than we can chew. Don't do that.

Listen to your guts and stick to doing your roast prime ribs right people.

{Wordless Wednesdays}: Marmalade Pantry & some Mexican Magic

0
COM

It was off to Marmalade Pantry for a quick weekday lunch.

{Wordless Wednesdays} means less talk.. so I'll try to curb the inner banter,  here was the mediocre  Spicy Crabmeat Linguine ($25) with pine nuts, tomatoes and chilli followed by a rather uninspired Basque Chicken  ($28) ,with capsicum, tomato and garlic potatoes; the tomatoes could have used a little more time in the blanch before roasting, the starch reducing to a little chalky consistency. Overall good meal for that quick fix but totally not worth its hefty price tag. Thank goodness for the Entertainer app that reduced our bill to a certain easier to swallow fee of $32 for 2.

Following our disappointing meal that day, we adjourned to Cha Cha Cha at Holland Village for some spirit lifting opportunities at dinner time.

Seeking comfort in our Margaritas ($40 for a pitcher), Chimichangas deep fried to a titillating golden brown and saucy sour cream with every cheesy bite of crackin' shredded beef filled Quesadilla ($13.50). This was the Mexican food lover's idea of paradise.

There and then... everything just felt better. Must have been that Mexican grilled cheese sandwich and its magic ways...

Wordless Wednesdays unravels at Novena's Hong Kong Street Family Restaurant.

On the hit list, Prawn Paste chicken, Sum Lor Hor Fun, Hotplate Beancurd (MMmmm...) and Stir Fried Sweet Potato Leaves.

These photos nurture a chimera of narratives... but with too many words spoken these day, my lips are sealed today. I'm leaving it to your imagination to draw the deductions.

Okay, I concede defeat, so maybe the food was all sorts of wonderful. Who can refuse the lure of that sweet layer of egg underneath that lusciously thick meat sauce on a sizzling hot plate?.. not me for sure...

Some sort of Wordless Wednesday this is turning out to be...
