D'Good Cafe: Deutsch Skillet Pancakes and Birthday Wishes

D'Good Cafe celebrates its 3rd birthday today, and to spread the joyous mood, everybody will enjoy a whopping 30% off the total bill only today, the 15th Oct' 15. Now, that's worth a trip down. You know what else warrants a visit? The new menu headlining D'good's foray into the Dutch Skillet Pancakes, that's what is.

Choose from a decent variation of savoury and sweet pancakes, black pepper beef to sweet potato and azuki; these treats leave a light footprint on the tummy that won't threaten to immobilise you after the debauchery. Perfect for a breakfast affair or over friendly banters with friends.

Traditionalist would revel in the Classic ($8) served with lemon, maple syrup and cream cheese spread. A time-honoured styled dutch skillet pancake, fluffy in the middle with slight caramelised edges and delicious custardy innards between glorious folds, enhanced by a ginger squeeze of lemon, dollop of cream cheese and the mandatory maple syrup just to boost it up a notch. If your bacon levels are low, go to the Rocket Bacon ($12) which features cherry and sundried tomatoes, parmesan cheese and smoky chunks of bacon bits with an ingenious touch of green from semi wilted rocket on souffled pancake to lessen the guilt factor.

I thread lightly around the dessert variation, the thought of a sweetened pancake instantly boring me. However the Banana Rum & Raisin ($12)  was dressed to impress, despite it carrying all the ingredients I usually love to hate (apart from the rum of course) - the honey coated crispy cornflakes strewed over the top are just begging to be picked out and munched on. So I must admit that my connection with this variation bordered on a love-hate relationship. Fans of caramelised bananas, this one's for you!

And if Dutch pancakes don't quite float your boat, there's an extensive menu of other savoury dishes that will most likely instill mirth and merriment in the gut section. Hop on over to previous blogpost to get a lowdown. Meanwhile, let the unabashedly spicy Tom Yum Seafood Pasta tantalise you with its neat alignment of fresh sea prawns, mussels and squid rings.

Once again, Happy 3rd Birthday D'Good Cafe!
