OSO Ristorante: Italian restaurants takes to newer heights at its new location @ OASIA Hotel Downtown

The real question is whether or not the food delivers on the same front as its new established heights off the ground.

OSO Ristorante previously located on Bukit Pasoh Road maintains its rigour and unmistakable melancholy in its set-up. White, stiff starched linen greets table tops, the oddly angled ginormous mirrors pandering to your stalkerish ways of taking stolen glanced at your picture perfect date. Don't get me wrong, it's a gorgeous space, the dry aging cabinet behind the high counter and the cheese room stowed away at the entrance providing inspirations for the meal to evolve. However, the real anchor in the equation is the emergence of a blue oasis, the sight of OASIA Hotel downtown's swimming pool through tall glass windows that provides a stark contrast and balances out the grandeur in the space.

With the news abuzz these days with how retail in Orchard Road is experiencing a decline in footfall and tourists receipts, it's no surprise that tenants in the vicinity are devising new ways to entice consumers to shop, dine or simply chill out over a cup of coffee; or in this case, a freshly brewed pot of tea. At Steamroom with The Pillar and Stones (SRPS), that's where you can experience a unique three-in-one concept, that's part 'kaffatea' room or Steamroom, part restaurant - The Pillar, and art space - Stones; hence the name.

Marmalade Pantry @ Oasia:

The Marmalade Pantry is no stranger to the food scene in town, serving up a modest menu of modern casual bistro items in two drastically different settings, spanning from the rustic nature and peaceful calm of the stables at Bukit Timah saddle club to the posh, pristine environment right smack in the heart of the shopping metropolis ION orchard. This time around, the Marmalade Pantry group has another trick up its sleeve with its most recent opening at the Oasia Hotel at Novena. Conveniently located beside the reception area, hotel visitors would be happy to know that the kitchen services the room service and is also accountable for the breakfast buffet. However, given those conditions, there is no sacrifice in quality, the Marmalade Pantry is even quick to rus up a couple of new menu items for media release.

Arteastiq: Be my Valentine

Let's start off with a bit of honesty here. Truths are always nice in the light of day.

I've never had Valentines day dinner in a restaurant before.

There, I've said it. Perhaps its my unfortunate run-ins with really stingy ex-boyfriends or maybe its a blessing in disguise as the sight of overly affectionate couples and the saturation of love themes splashed loud and proud in all forms make me nauseous. I am a generous lover, but I rather do all that in the privacy of the bedroom.

However, if I have to choose one place for this years celebrations, it would have to be Arteastiq. Mainly because overpriced, second-rate food makes me pissed, and to be frank, there's no space for love in the presence of shoddy cooking. Arteastiq delivers on all fronts, presenting 2 sets, one for the Ladies and one for the Gentlemen, encouraging cheeky sharing and careless whispers exchanged over the tables.
