TWD: Chocolate Chunksters!

TWD: Chocolate Chunksters

*woots*

chunk1

finally managed to drag myself up in the wee hours of the morning to bake a batch of these lovely cookies. Chocolate Chunksters chosen by Claudia of Food for Fool. The end result, a slight burn on the thumb (darn those thinning mittens. think I've got to get myself a new pair soon), a trayful of gorgeously chewy chocolate cookies and a chocolate smear at the side of my mouth (ARGH.. someone stop me!!!)

The cookie batter had a very watery consistency and had spread like wildfire once they entered the oven. I reckoned it must have been me cutting down too much on the dry chunky ingredients. Kitchen on a tight budget these days... Worst still, I did not realise that my salted peanuts had lost their crisp and adding them into the cookie meant giving the final product a hard and even unchewable texture. trust me.. my jaw had a good workout! But then again, I must say that the cookie had a wonderful ooey-gooey brownie like texture towards the centre which i loved and slight crisp corners. Didn't look anything like Dorie's picture. But who cares.. just as long as they are good!!!

Next up: Dimply Plum Cake (rubs palms.. erm.. just right. plums are in season now!)

note to myself: 2 more days to our 1st year of being together! *hugz*. love you babe!

how funny that your batter was so thin - mine was at the opposite extreme! but your cookies look wonderful - thin and chewy.

Your cookies look wonderful! So rich and delicious. Well done!

Yum! Your cookies turned out lovely! I halved the recipe cos there was no way I could afford to buy all that chocolate! Very expensive recipe.

Sorry you burned yourself - ouch! I've done that a few times myself.

Sorry about the burned thumb :( I'm surprised that your batter was watery. Mine were also the opposite. But I bet yours were yummy just the same.

Ouch -- sorry about the burn! I've been there too many times. People like me really shouldn't be allowed in the kitchen, actually. These were an expensive cookie to make! Glad you got that ooey-gooey texture -- they look yummy!

I actually like how yours turned out more like a cookie. Mine were more like a hefty chocolatey granola bar. And yay for plums!!!

My oven mitts are wearing out too! I think we must bake too much! Your cookies look wonderful- nice job!

I'm glad they tasted good! If you want to soften them up, try putting them in a tupperware container with a slice of bread.

They look good! Mine were really large cookies filled to the brim with goodies. But it was expensive to make with all that chocolate!

Sometimes mistakes can lead to great things... and apparently, yours worked out very fine! Perhaps you even invented a new kind of chunkers!
Great Job!

Oh, I hear you about the chocolate on your face. My husband pointed out some chocolate smears that I didn't clean up in time. How embarrassing.

I ALWAYS burn myself... I'm notorious for it! Your cookies look great... hahaha and I'm sure that chocolate on your face was worth it!

They look good to me! Who cares what they look like as long as they taste good!!!!

Thanks for visiting my blog! Your cookies look great and I am more of a fan of the thinner cookies than the thick cakey ones, so yours are right up my alley!

That looks like a winner to me! Talking of worn out mitts, I need to replace mine too. Burnt me as well.

As long as they are tasty, who cares what they look like! I get frustrated sometimes with Dorie's perfect pictures, but oh well!

Your thinner cookies look good, perhaps I should try them that way some time! Yes, these were hard on the budget, all right.

The thinner cookies look really classy. I prefer the look of thinner cookies. Great job!

They look yummy to me. And I know how good they are!

Love that last pic. I cut down on the dry ingredients as well. Chunky is good, but those are REALLY chunky.

Yours definitely look different than mine, but who cares as long as it tastes like chocolate :)

Great pics and your cookies look delicious, think everyone is on a tight budget these days!

I think your cookies look great. (And my own burned hand commiserates with yours, why are oven mitts so darn cheap nowadays?) Also, I noticed that my batter thickened up a LOT upon standing, so it might be that if you make them again and have a little chill time, they won't spread as much. But who cares, it's all about the taste!
