Anjali Chocolate: Here's looking at you.

3 years and progression from a small workbench to a compartmentalised cottage stocked with chocolates aplenty. Anjali chocolate has definitely worked its way up from its humbler days when stowed away in the innards of Pasarbella (read full review here). It's new premises in Loewen Road (located at the peripherals of the Dempsey cluster) spilling forth sophistication and an attention to detail even in the wines procured for the Chocolate tasting event I had the privilege to attend.

We were kindly brought through a platter full of chocolate -  an after-dinner indulgence of the most sinful kind. Starting off with the white varietal, the Lemongrass White Chocolate truffles rolled in Coconut stole my heart. Washed down with an Italian Aleatico quite similar to a sweet muscato, the lemongrass notes played a subtle tune on the tongue and it was gorgeous.

As we moved along the spectrum to uncover the more broody varietals, we were instructed to open our palate with the Cannonau di Sardegna -  fortified, this pours a bright ruby red with the prudent aroma of ripe red berry, strawberry and raspberry jam. This worked in perfect tandem to the showcase of milk chocolate truffles. The new year special, featuring Sesame Praline particularly catching my fancy. For a walk on the wild side, there's the Garam Masala with a balanced sort of pungency in its wake, ringing in mysterious notes of cultures uncovered. Guys, if you're looking to get something for valentines' day, there's the special passion fruit and strawberries which is ever so effervescent and bubbly, just like any innocent relationship should be.

Lovers of the dark variety, fret not, as Anajali does minimal work with their dark couveture to enhance it base properties. Take for example the Mayan Chili, intensified by honey and vanilla as well as the classic Star Anise Bon Bon.

All in all, this experience was something I valued deeply, mainly because I've seen the potentials of the brand fully explored since my first dabble 3 years ago. Whatever the occasion may be, chocolates are always a great idea. And you can count on Anjali to deliver the most illustrious experience for your guest or for yourself, for that matter.

Anjali does chocolate boxes in a myriad of sizes from the humble four pack to a massive platter that's perfect for corporate gifts.
