Enter Yellow Pot, nestled in the lobby of the new boutique hotel Six Senses Duxton. The menu is straightforward Chinese, with no special emphasis on particular provincial cuisine - yet it's parroting of modish ingredients and ethical sustainability practises brings it into the 21st century. As you would expect of any Six Senses project, the decor is dynamic - an eclectic little enclave that's bedecked in lavish tones of black, gold and yellow; it's marbled table tops, the pedestal for 3 yellow pots of varied height - yes, you guessed it, the fountainhead. Soundtrack is techno vibe-d, and oddity for a six senses property, and much less a Chinese restaurant.

With a twist of fate, visits to Kuala Lumpur are all but becoming regular events for me. With that, the Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs comes to mind. The KL Journal conveniently located in the heart of Bukit Bintang satisfies that physiological needs to the maximum of its capabilities, providing affordable luxuries with the added benefits of convenience where traversing the city is concerned.

I've got a confession to make. I love my staycations; think, crisp linen, rain showers, warm bodies under fresh sheets (Mmmm), luxurious facilities and an out-of-town experience without the actual hassle of packing your bags. What's there not to love? - Those looking to surprise the missus with a romantic island escape without skimping on the luxury should read on. I guarantee you that a you can get a lavish 5-star hotel experience without breaking the banks at one of my recommended boutique hotel staycations littered about our sunny island.
Unlike typical hotels, boutique hotels are usually decked out in extremely unique decor, shrouded in quaint and unusual themes with the added benefit of non-fluctuating booking fees even in peak seasons. So go ahead and get your credit cards ready, cause the temptation is real!
