Free flow AIX French Rose at only $14++? - there's no way I wasn't knock this game out of its ballpark. My last experience at Tin Hill Social Sunday brunch held in conjunction with Straits Wine Company was a home run. Cozy vibes and mad bokeh game within spacious grounds, with a genial carpet of natural light draped over all its corners; it was love at first sight. Then there was the food - leave it to Chef Michael Lewis to make a lasting impression with his cuisine overflowing with laid back Australian vibes with a strong emphasis on produce.

After looking through the menu at Tin Hill Social, you'll immediately start to formulate ways to squeeze in more nosh in your tummy. The mesmeric carte du jour heralding several choices of meat cuts presented in abstract ways such as the hay smoked pork ribs and sous vide octopus leg served with romesco sauce and hazelnuts. Making a choice, may just be the toughest part yet; the resistance to wipe out all of the wasabi fries in the mess tin coming in a close second.

Driving up to Paddy Hills, I felt a certain sense of loss as I witnessed the misplacement of tradition. The old shop front which use to house a darn good duck rice stall, now replaced by something bright, something gleaming and undeniably sexy in a rebellious sort of way. Paddy Hills, clocking in just a few months of business, is new to the game of pleasing the finicky taste buds of Singaporeans. It's recent misfortune with the press regarding its lengthy waiting times hitting a sour note with many potential customers looking to visit the new joint.
It was my fortune perhaps to have been invited on a night nosh session which seemingly is less popular in contrast to the posh cafe fare churned out in the daytime. Perhaps its the hefty prices or the lack of lighting that would discourage the crowds; but the cool vibes discharged were succinct, engaging the inner-Aussie in me, the flawless transition from cafe to savvy tapas bar at night hitting it straight home on a personal level.

I can never say no to ribs. And seriously, looking at those peeking honeyed strands of tender meat percolating barbecued goodness, only a saint can resist (or can they?)
Dinner at Outback Steakhouse was an interesting experience since my previous exposure was in Sydney. Uprooting, might I add, since I had the misconception that Outback steakhouse as name stakes was an all Australian joint, NO, in fact, it's an Australian-themed American casual dining restaurant chain based in Tampa, Florida with over 1200 locations in 23 countries now. Pardon me for the large rock I've been hiding under...
So moving on, we started our feast with non other than the quintessential American pub grub classic, Buffalo wings dressed as Kookaburra Wings (half $9.90, full $14.90), chicken joints tossed in a savoury blend of spices and then fanned out around a well of creamy blue cheese dressing. If you appreciate a good chunky blue cheese dressing then this would be one not to miss. A quick dipping with the fresh celery sticks would satiate those with a penchant for sauces.

This day, I turned one year older.
Older, translating significantly into physical ageing as well as a mental maturation. For once in my life, I didn't feel compelled to be so much of a nomad, relationship ties and job commitments weighing heavily on my spirit; I'm guessing it may not be such a bad thing after all since its about time such a change occurred.
Celebrations this year were more toned down, and I took to riding it out in a very hush-hushed manner. My better half decided on Spathe Public House for my birthday dinner and I happily obliged recalling our previous delightful dining experience (read here!)
